Why Childbirth Education Classes are Important

My name is Paula Pizarro. I have been a nurse for over 25 years, mostly in Labor& Delivery, Newborn, and Neonatal ICU. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a Certification in Childbirth Education, and a CCht (which is a certified clinical hypnotherapist). I am also a certified breastfeeding counselor, a certified passenger safety technician, and a certified educator of infant massage. I teach childcare education classes to empower pregnant women, foster and adoptive parents, same-sex couples, and all of their support circle.

I have worked at a large hospital for the past 13 years, the last two of which have been as a Childbirth Educator and Perinatal Outreach Coordinator. I recently opened my own childbirth education business called Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond Inc.

I am invested in the clients that take my classes, and I really love it when a parent comes back to me and tells me how much my classes empowered them to have a great birth, even when things didn’t go as planned. During those time, my clients have been confident in their decision-making because of the medical interventions natural birth options I covered in my class.

At P, B&B, I offer a wide variety of classes and encourage the support circle to be active in them as well. I utilize recommendations from The American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology in my classes as well as evidence-based research from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
